Don Quixote - Part 13 from Out West Woodcarving Videos on Vimeo.
its coming along very nice how did you decide on the round base over a square one
When you stated, "What am i doing?" I was suffering.....I was noticing that you were cutting to much and I was screaming at my computer to try and get your attention...LOL. My nerves was on edge....wondering if you would pick it up. That was scary. I'm glad you heard my screams.
Lynn, this project is looking exceptional. I really appreciate the time you and Judy spend in bringing these videos to us. Thanks.
I too was thinking, he is going to screw that up if he takes one more slice....glad you caught it. I have changed design mid-carve before when I stopped thinking about what I was carving off. The base looks really nice. I didn't realize this was going to be a bust with arms..more like a half guy. I was showing pictures of your carvings to my brother who is visiting for Christmas, and telling him about seeing your carvings in person at the Tulsa show this summer..when I realized it is almost the end of December, we have company for the holidays, grand-kids have plans...and I am going to miss going to the WoolRoc show. I am major disappointing, but that's what I get for having a life outside of carving. Sure wish I could have made it over. Give us a final report after you bring the show back to your place.
Lynn, Looks like the lighting is helping us see the carving better too, I hope it’s helping you, if not you might want to try it on the left side, if you can, seeing how you are right handed, but you already know that. The cylinders diameter on the base looks a little small to me, it’s like the carving is to ‘big’ for it and that it might fall over, but hey you’re the one that does this all the time.I to, did not know you were going to do arms on him and am glad that you are, as I said in an earlier post, I wish he was going to be full body.I am awed by your ability to try anything, I am one of those timid carvers that can take days putting knife to wood for fear of messing up.
I'm simply amazed at how good he looks so far. Outstanding Lynn. I'm looking forward to the arms and the placement of.the arms Thank you and Judy so much. fred k
Think this is going to be one of my favourites Lynn, its coming along so quickly and it just looks right if you know what i mean.I agree the lighting is really helping to show much more detail. You briefly touched on the base you turned on your lathe , any chance you could show us that in a future video I'm sure a lot of us would find that interesting and give us a better understanding of the whole process! Keep up the good work, it's a constant inspiration
